01About

I build healthcare tools for the people big systems leave out, and I study what gets lost when a patient’s story becomes a chart note.

I’m a senior at USC, finishing a B.A. in Health and Human Sciences and, alongside it, a progressive M.S. in Narrative Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine. Both wrap up in spring 2027.

I grew up in Portland around my mother’s adult foster care homes, and my father is a pharmacist, so I saw early how much of care happens outside the exam room. Before I wrote any software I worked as a caregiver in Oregon for special needs and ventilator-dependent adults.

Synic AI is where that turned into work. I started it in 2025 to build tools for independent physicians, dental teams, families caring at home and anyone trying to read the research for themselves. I also write on Medium, mostly about medicine and AI and sometimes about history and travel.

02Building

Healthcare tools, for all.

Most good clinical software gets sold to hospital systems. I build for the people outside them: the solo physician, the dental office, the family caregiver and anyone trying to make sense of the research on their own.

Synic AI

I founded Synic AI in June 2025. It’s one company with four products, and they share one rule: Synic drafts, a person decides.

I architected the stack in React, TypeScript, Node.js and PostgreSQL. Production runs on HIPAA-eligible AWS infrastructure, with BAAs signed with Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, Corti and AWS.

LiveFor independent physicians

Drafted by Synic. Signed by you.

For the physician without an enterprise system or a scribe. Synic drafts the intake summary, the visit note, the codes and the forms while the doctor stays with the patient. Nothing is filed until the physician signs it.

An earlier version was piloted for one month by 8 physicians (800+ notes); the rebuilt v2 is live.

  • Pre-visit intake and an ambient scribe
  • ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding with the rationale shown
  • Prior authorization with denial-risk flags
  • CMS quality reporting (QPP)

Synic Evidence: Research starts here.

Research, for all.

Ask a health or research question in plain language and get an answer built from live PubMed, PMC, FDA drug labels and ClinicalTrials.gov. Every sentence cites its source, and every quote is checked word for word against the passage it came from.

You can follow a question and get an alert when new evidence comes in.

  • PubMed, PMC and Europe PMC
  • FDA drug labels, RxNorm and MedlinePlus
  • ClinicalTrials.gov
  • Cited sentences with source checksQuotes matched word for word
  • Followed questions and alerts
Synic Dental: Templates get denied. Specifics get approved.
LiveFor dental teams

Specifics get approved.

Enter what you found in the chair. Synic Dental drafts the claim narrative, predetermination or appeal the way insurance reviewers read them, with the attachment checklist ready.

It works from procedure facts, so the inputs don’t need patient names or identifiers. The dental team reviews every draft before it goes anywhere.

  • Claim narratives
  • Predeterminations
  • Appeals
  • Attachment checklists
  • No patient identifiers needed
Synic Relay: Care, carried together.
Public demoUSC SHIP Fund 2026

Care, carried together.

So much of caregiving lives in one person’s memory: the breakfast routine, the sign that means he’s in pain, which pill needs food. Relay helps families supporting an adult with intellectual and developmental disabilities, or an aging parent, write that down while life is calm.

It checks in, watches for silence and only hands off to the people the family chose.

  • Nothing enters the care plan until the family approves it
  • Nothing is sent or booked without a yes
  • Only a person the family named can start a handoff
  • USC SHIP Fund 2026 participant

03Research

What the note keeps.

My research asks whether a patient’s own words survive when AI writes the clinical note. I also lead a scoping review on the healthcare work family caregivers do at home.

Do AI clinical notes keep what patients say?

I preregistered the test before running it, then measured across three public corpora. The most useful result was the uncomfortable one: a detector that looked excellent on examples I wrote fell apart on independent data. Only one measure, stated worry, reproduced across every corpus.

Scoping review: healthcare tasks performed by unpaid family caregivers

I’m mapping the healthcare tasks that unpaid family caregivers do at home for adults 65 and older, using a PCC protocol and PRISMA-ScR.
